BEVERLY, Mass. - Five members of the Endicott College women's lacrosse team have been named as members of this year's Division III All-Regional Team as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Thursday.
Sophomore Valerie Feldman (Albany, N.Y.) and freshman Kellie Cunningham (Derry, N.H.) were both selected as members of the All-Regional First Team, while senior Emily Judd (Peabody, Mass.), junior Alex Pearce (Underhill, Vt.), and junior Molly Moss (Yarmouth, Maine) were all named to the All-Regional Second Team.
Feldman led the Gulls with 55 goals on the season and was named the TCCC Offensive Player of the Year. In perhaps her best game of the season the sophomore had an outstanding 11-point performance against New England College, scoring seven goals to lead the Blue and Green to a 19-13 victory.
Cunningham, a member of the All-TCCC First Team, led the Gulls with 78 points on 47 goals and a team-high 31 assists. She was an excellent all-around player, which is evident by the fact that she also finished second on the team in draw controls, groundballs, and caused turnovers. In what may have been the highlight of her season, Cunningham scored a diving game-winning goal against rival Gordon College with just five seconds left in regulation to propel the Gulls into the TCCC Championship game.
Judd, the team's lone senior, was the Gulls' most versatile player this season. Judd led the team in groundballs, draw controls, and caused turnovers. As well as playing tenacious defense, Judd also contributed offensively with 35 points on 21 goals and 14 assists. She graduates as the program's all-time leader with 246 groundballs and 164 caused turnovers.
Pearce finished second on the team with 52 goals including an outstanding nine-goal performance versus New England College in the opening round of the TCCC Tournament. Tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals, the junior could always be counted on for a big shot.
Moss, who was named to the TCCC All-Conference First Team, played stellar defense all season long, assisting Endicott in holding their opponents to the third lowest goals against average in conference play. The junior also provided depth on offense, chipping in with 17 points on 10 goals and seven assists.
All five of these athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American team, which will be announced on May 29th. The IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 14, 2008 in Downingtown, Pa.
