Gulls go 0-2 on day one of March Mania Invitational |

BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College men's volleyball team hosted day one of their annual March Mania Invitational on Saturday, as the Gulls opened the two-day event by going 0-2.
The afternoon began with the Blue and Green squaring off with New York based, Hunter College. The Hawks were able to sneak their way by the Gulls in four games, 19-30, 30-20, 32-30 and 30-28.
Endicott was led offensively by kill leader A.J. Witkofsky (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), who hammered home a match-high 22 kills. Eric Smith (Concord, MA/Concord Carlisle) was also a threat at the Endicott net, as he compiled 15 kills in the match Freshman setter Ben Foster (Penfield, NY/Penn) dished out 56 assists and had 9 digs, while sophomore Dan Coleman (Millis, MA/Millis) racked up 16 digs in the loss.
Hunter College was led by Zacarias Ripoll (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy), who hit 21 kills for the Hawks in the win. Velislav Danailov (Pernik, Bulgaria/Gen. VC Stoianov) dished out 59 assists for Hunter.
The 5:00 PM game slated the Gulls vs. Medaille College, with the Mavericks taking a three games to one win, 22-30, 30-28, 30-22 and 30-24 over Endicott.
Jake Beiter (Eden, NY/Eden) led the way for the Mavericks, as he racked up 18 kills. Drew Lewandowski (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) continued his strong tournament, as the junior setter handed out 67 assists in the win. Endicott was led by Eric Smith's 13 kills, while Ben Foster picked up 42 assists.
Endicott will continue play tomorrow as they move into the "bronze bracket." The Gulls will take on Johnson & Wales University at 10:00 AM on Sunday morning. The Wildcats dropped decisions to Clarke College (3-0) and Ramapo (3-0) on Saturday.
