WINTER PARK, Fla. - North Central College scored eight times in the first inning as the Cardinals cruised to an 11-5 win over Endicott College on Thursday afternoon in Winter Park, Florida. The loss drops Endicott to 4-3, while North Central improves to 4-4.
Endicott starter Matt Sharon (Wallingford, Vt.) would only survive a third of an inning, as the Cardinals notched seven hits and eight runs off the Gulls' righty. Adam Labbe (Litchfield, Maine) would be summoned in relief, working his way out of a tough situation to end the inning.
Endicott responded in the fifth as Christopher Dominguez (Braintree, Mass.) doubled to right, advancing Andrew Betts (Bristol, Conn.) to third. Christopher Carillo (Bethel, Conn.) connected on a sac fly to center, scoring Carillo for the Gulls' first run.
The Blue and Green posted two more scores in the sixth as Dan Gomez (East Longmeadow, Mass.) scored on a North Central error. Brian Andersen (Grafton, Mass.) also knocked an RBI single up the middle to score John Skutnik (Pittsfield, Mass.) to make it a six run game.
North Central put the game out of reach as it had a three-run eighth inning, ending any Endicott comeback thoughts. The Cardinals poked 16 hits en route to their 11-5 win on Thursday.
Brian Andersen finished the day 2-for-3, while freshman Luis Uribe (Boston, Mass.) also had two hits in the loss. Gavin Softic (Athol, Mass.) batted 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Gulls.
Endicott will conclude its spring trip on Friday as the Gulls will entertain MCLA in a double-header. Game one is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
